Spend a whole day with zoologist Chris Humfrey from ABC’s hit series “Chris Humfrey’s Wild Life!” and Animal Planet’s “Chris Humfrey’s Animal Instinct”.

Work at his very own private zoo, and learn from Chris himself! Get up close and personal with over 2000 animals!

Discover what drives Chris to work with animals. Who know’s your child could follow in his footsteps! This is an exceptional hands-on experience, which is offered no where else. Chris has personally designed this exclusive program. Strictly limited numbers of children will ensure that your child will get the WILD experience which they CRAVE!

Wild Action zoo is nestled in the foothills of Mount Macedon. It’s an easy 50 minute drive from Melbourne’s CBD.

Where is the workshop held?

Chris Humfrey’s Junior Zoo Keeper workshop is held at Wild Action ZooHQ in the picturesque forested hamlet of Macedon, Victoria 3440.

The location is a comfortable 50 minute drive North from Melbourne CBD. Why not relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of City Life, and let us give your Child the best wildlife day ever!

How many children participate?

Due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols and work zone sanitation procedures, only 10 children participate in the workshop each day. Allowing your Child safe and unprecedented access to an unbeatable interactive day working with wildlife.

What is the age limit?

We allow school aged children from the ages of 5 years to 17 years to participate in the day’s activities. Because of the small numbers of children participating, age variation in the workshop is never a problem. We have a 1:3 Team member:student ratio. No one misses out on with Chris' exclusive experience. The day is geared towards ‘animal-mad’ kids who have a real passion to work with wildlife.

What is the duration of the workshop?

The day commences at 10am after a ‘meet and greet’ with Parents, Team members and Junior Zoo Keeper participants, and concludes at 4pm.

What is the cost of the program?

Chris Humfrey’s Junior Zoo Keeper workshop costs $330 + GST per child.

How do you book your child in?

Simply click on the booking WeTeachMe widget on this page. Select your preferred date and make payment. All of the necessary information regarding indemnity forms, personal information and medical forms will be emailed out to you.

Do parents or guardians participate?

Parents and Guardians do not participate in the days activities. Your Child must be able to independently work away from their Family environment. Rest assured, all of our Team are full-time employees and have Working with Children Checks. The day is conducted in a group, led by Chris Humfrey.

Chris Humfrey's Junior Zoo Keeper Program is held at Wild Action Zoo HQ in Macedon, Victoria.

This workshop runs from 10am to 4pm. The program costs $330 + GST

Your child will need to bring along their own, snack, packed lunch and water bottle.

What do the children learn and experience?

Chris has formulated one of the best interactive wildlife workshops in the Country. Offering unprecedented access to his very own zoological collection. Your child will have the exclusive experience of working with a myriad of different types of wildlife. Your Child will learn first hand how to:

• maintain and manage a large wildlife collection
• safely handle and work with many native Australian species.
• in-depth animal husbandry diet, enclosure design + maintenance
• animal safety around a wide variety of taxa.
• environmental enrichment for captive animals.
• endangered species breeding and conservation.

What does your child need to bring along for the day’s activities?

Your child needs to bring with them:
• packed snack and lunch
• suitable footwear and clothing for forecasted weather conditions
• a hat and sunscreen
• any necessary medication
• a sense of fun, resilience and adventure!

Our Teaching environment.

Our aim is to give your child the best day of their lives! We spare no expense or attention to detail to make your child feel safe and included.
The teaching environment is very much family orientated, up-beat, non-stop with plenty of chatter and good quality fun. Your child won’t realise how much they have learnt!
We explore concepts such as taxonomy, adaptations, conservation and loads of quirky fun facts. Our Junior Zoo Keeper's safety and mental wellbeing is paramount. No one is forced or ‘pushed’ to do anything. However, we encourage and nurture your child, to hopefully step outside their comfort zones to give them a great sense of achievement and resilience.

On Completion of Chris Humfrey’s Junior Zoo Keeper Experience

Your Child will receive their very own USB drive cram filled with amazing photographs of their WILD experience.
• A Junior Zoo Keeper Certificate of achievement, personally signed by Chris Humfrey, with a personal message.
• Chris' latest book "Chris Humfrey's Awesome Australian Animals".
A great sense of achievement and pride, and a better understanding of what it’s really like to work with animals.
